Across Waitaha Canterbury, important biodiversity work is already underway – led by farmers, iwi, community groups, schools and restoration organisations.
But projects are often planned and delivered separately, with limited connection to a wider regional picture. There is no Canterbury-wide view of what has been restored, what has survived, where investment is having the greatest impact, or where the next opportunities lie. Funders cannot easily see which projects are ready, where support is most needed or how outcomes will be measured. And successful restoration requires more than planting: fencing, pest control, maintenance and monitoring all matter.
Recloaking Waitaha will bring this work together and make Canterbury's collective impact visible.
